| Born and raised in Shreveport,
LA, Kix Brooks cut his teeth on a variety of regional musical styles
ranging from Cajun to Blues to Jazz to Country.
Brooks, a natural performer, began playing in clubs and other venues
while in high school. He also began writing songs around that same
time. After stints in New Orleans and Maine, he eventually landed
in Nashville, where he joined Tree Publishing Company. Shortly thereafter,
Brooks began to make a name for himself as a songwriter, with cuts
by such artists as Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, John Conlee and Highway
101.
