Lauren Hutton, a tenth generation South Carolinian, born in Charleston,
grew up mainly in the Florida swamps where her interest in animals
and wildlife began.
She dropped out of college to pursue a life of travel and discovered
modeling in New York as a means to paying for it. Hutton appeared
on a record 25 Vogue magazine covers and in countless editorial
campaigns. In 1974, she negotiated the first exclusive talent contract
in modeling history with Revlon.
This created the first of the "supermodels."
For the next ten years, she divided her time between modeling exclusively
for Revlon, worldwide traveling (particularly Africa), and acting,
co-starring in such films as "American Gigolo," with Richard
